High School Update!
December 8, 2008 by admin
Pressure Basketball Club graduated our first class of freshmen this past summer. We also have several other players on our JV team playing at the high school level.
As the season officially kicks off this week, we will use this section to keep up with our players and how they are doing.
First off, we’re proud to report that Pressure Alumni, Juwan Godwin is back on the court!
You may remember that Juwan (a freshman at Compton Domingues High School) fractured his leg in a summer league game.
According to his mother, (Compton City Clerk) Alita Godwin, Juwan received a clean bill of help from his doctor and is cleared to return to the hardwood where he will join his brother Tyree. She also wanted to thank everyone for all our prayers and well wishes for Juwan’s speedy recovery.

Jordan Whaley, (a sophomore at Flintridge Prep) was named to the All League 2nd team as a linebacker for Prep’s Varsity Team. Pressure Alumni Kory Hamane (freshman) also played JV football for Flintridge Prep and starting at running back. Kory will join Jordan on the Varsity Basketball Team.

Bell-Jeff’s Big Three, Andre Frazier (freshman), Elijah Reed (freshman), and Emery Else (junior) also caught the football bug and wound up starting on defense for Bell-Jeff’s JV team. Andre played safety and Elijah and Emery played cornerbacks and saw time at tailback.
Their team went 7-2 and came within 1 win of taking league. After a strong showing during summer league, all three will see time with Micah Shirley (sophomore) on the Guards Varsity basketball team. Micah played Varsity football this year starting both ways at receiver and safety.
He led the league in catches and yards per catch helping his team to their first playoff win in school history!
Bell-Jeff has a website to keep up with their sport teams: www.belljeffsports.com

Update on Juwan: Juwan has been given the okay by his Doctor to play. He played in his first high school basketball game (Freshman) on Saturday (1/9/09) and he played one heck of a game. He played really good defense (2 steals), he had 3 assist, and 13 points (4-3 pointers and 1 free throw). Even though they lost to Gahr by 2 it was still a very exciting game. His next game is Friday (1/16/09) at 4:00 p.m. at Dominguez against Downey.
WHAT A GREAT YEAR FOR ERNIE AND SERVITE FOOTBALL!!!
