Little Guys supply lots of PRESSURE!
What a difference a month makes, from winning one to winning it all. On Saturday the guys pressured Newport Lightening into several mistakes which made for an easy 48-28 win. In our second game Pressure pushed the host team OC Swoosh around for another easy win 56-22. We’re still far away from playing the type of defense that the coaches would like to see, but baby steps are being made.
The championship game started out a little slow but Dominic got a couple of steals which led to some easy baskets for little Shank. These little guys are fun to watch, they all play with smiles on their faces like there playing video games. Dominic played really well the entire weekend and could have easily captured the MVP award.
Getting the trophy was Journey Shank who hit from outside and inside using both hands on lay-ups, he and Dominic use both their hands like there already in high school, these kids are pretty impressive in that area. Once the entire team figure out it’s more enjoyable to play hard nose defense then we’ll be something special.
There were some nice contributions from Kole who hit some big shots from the elbow, Rudy played really well on Saturday driving to the basket while Eric and Jay controlled the boards. Our most improved player would have to be Narren, who’s doing so much more than he was just a short month ago I think he’s going to be really good player sooner than he knows.
Can we say CHAMPIONSHIP!! (See Video Below Compliments of Gary Goodwin!)
Pressure Girl’s… Not enough Pressure!
Shorthanded the girls of Pressure put up fight but just ran out of gas. Playing with only six players and three of them new they were limited in the things they could do. According to Coach Aaron he saw some positives as well as negatives. The newcomers to the program has all of us excited, finally Laura has some help on the boards. Jamella and Celsee are extremely aggressive with Nicole being the finesse player. Channeling that aggression in the right direction will be a challenge and a plus. Shavon better known as (Shortie) had an outstanding game offensively in Saturday’s first game scoring a team high 23 points. Now she going to have to do it on both ends, I’m not sure if everyone is aware but she’s only in the 6th grade, she and Erica are playing against girls that are sophomores and juniors, and contributing. Erica has been doing it for so long against the boys and now the girls we take it for granted…Good for them!
Then there’s dependable Markie who working on her game daily, where would we be without her. She’s determined to be the best, do it everyday in practice and people will notice. Go left young lady go LEFT. Just as Ashley was showing some aggression she hyper extended her knee. Get right back up and keep playing you were figuring it out.
Can’t wait to see all of the high school girls in February, good luck play hard. You never know, who’s watching.

Memorial Day Tournament!

Thanks again, Parents for your continued support. The 6th grade team really appreciates your encouragement.
The 6th grade team went 2-1 for the tournament in Oxnard. The first game was a hard fought two point win.
With Isaiah and Gage controlling the inside, Nick and Drew dictating the pace on the perimeter, and solid play from whole team, it was our best overall showing in a while.
Cline had her best game in a long time making a 3 and other big plays late in the game.
In the second game the team’s effort was there but the execution on offense was poor. The team never gave up but wasn’t able to overcome our mistakes.
The third game was a rare (for us) blowout win.
Overall I was happy with the team’s effort throughout the tournament. Every one of the players gave a good effort in each game. The energy was much better than last weekend.
I’m hopeful that we’ll soon be able to give that type of effort more consistently. If we keep working hard at practice we’ll get there.
See you at practice

Hey family, it was another good tournament this weekend in Ventura.
Just want to give love to all the Pressure teams on playing hard all weekend and Congratulate the 8th grade team for winning the 14 & U Championship!
To the 6th, 8th and HS Girls, I like what I saw keep up the hard work it’s going to pay off.
To the HS Boys im impressed with how hard you guys worked and didn’t back away from the physical play.
We, as a team, are making improvement, but some of us need to do some work on our own so that we can become a even better team.
The improvement starts in practice so I hope to see everyone there ready to work their A#& off.
See you next week.
Coach Aaron
