Lynwood Tournament Recap!
July 2, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
Hey family it’s Coach Aaron, coming to you with another tournament recap.
Just want to say good job to all the teams this weekend. To the 8th grade team it’s about one thing and that is HEART.
Sometimes thing don’t always work out in your favor, but you have to keep working hard at what you want. I know we only had six players on Sunday, but even with what we had, we still could have won the game against the RC Rebels.
We always say in practice to work hard as you can and then go harder so the game will be easy to you.I think if we would have had a little more HEART to push threw we may have gaven our self a better chance to win the game, but I still feel we played very hard just came up short.
See you at practice… Coach A

The 5th Grade Boys Team thanks you for your support and encouragement this past weekend.
The team participated in its second tournament this season at the Anaheim Sports Center and struggled quite a bit.
Although we didn’t win any games this weekend (0 &3) I did see a couple of positive signs.
1. After falling way behind on scoreboard in the second game on Saturday the team fought back and had a chance to win the game( we lost by 3).
2. Our newer players are slowly starting to understand their roles and how we want them to play.
Overall I think we can play harder and smarter. We played hard in spurts but we didn’t play as hard as we could consistently throughout the tournament. We also made a lot of mistakes that weren’t forced by our opponents. We will get better in both of these areas.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all at practice this coming weekend. We have a lot of work to do.
Coach Marshall

Usually, after a tournament, the coaching staff will send out a recap of the weekend and send it out to the players. This year, we’re going to post it on our site so everyone can read it.
Here’s our first one for the 2008 -2009 season!

Thanks everyone for supporting our teams, it was a long weekend for some and a new experience for others.
All of our teams did an outstanding job of representing themselves. The coaches were able to evaluate the teams and players in different situations. Now we’ll go back to the gym and make some adjustments.
Just a reminder to players and parents, your punctuality and attendance to games and practice will affect your playing time so please be mindful of this for all of the tomorrows to come.
Thanks again and I will see everyone this weekend at practice.

Hey Pressure family the first tournament is in the books and it was a good one. All the teams did well and they played hard.
For me, the 7th graders didn’t have the number of wins that we would have liked, but they played hard and as long as they continue to do so, the winning will come.
We did some good things as a team and that is only going to help us get better. I am very excited about the new season and the players that we have on this team.
With the play of Michel D, Ruben G and the surprise play of Quinton, a newcomer to the group, the team was able to get a victory on sunday.
Now its time to get back in the gym put in the hard work to get better.
So I will see you all on Saturday and Sunday. Please show up and be on time.

First let us say thank you to the parents for being engaged and supporting the team during this opening tournament.
To the players, for our first tournament our overall effort was good but there’s much room for improvement (i.e. making lay-ups, reducing turnovers, being physical, taking charges, etc). Our play improved with each game resulting in a hard fought TEAM win in our final game. Always remember basketball is a TEAM sport; we will either rise or fall based on our commitment to the TEAM. There were lapses in our effort and intensity but there was always a resurgence. Now, we need to eliminate the lapses and operate with consistency. Effort, intensity, aggressiveness and a team focus will lead us to victory.
To summarize the tournament in a phrase…we’re on the right track!

Pressure’s 5th Grade Boys Team played this weekend in the SGV tournament and represented themselves well.
The team played much better than they did at this stage last year.
Nick and Ralphie played well and led the team to a 2 win 2 loss record. What really impressed me was the play of James and Myles J. They both really stepped up their games. Danny and Miles M also gave us a good effort.
This weekend was the Pressure debut for Amber, Cline, and Dee ( Dillon played with us once last season). It was a good start for all of them.
Overall I was pleased with our effort. Let’s continue to work hard to get better!
