Tuesday Talk!

Another wonderful weekend for our Pressure Program, we all witnessed some fantastic basketball from all of our teams.

As usual I would like to thank everyone for supporting all of the teams, it was a pleasant sight to see the boys and their parents supporting the girls as well as girls and their parents doing the same for the boys.

Our tiny tots or as the wife affectionately calls them the tribe went 2-1.They all converge on an area like a swarm of bees chasing honey.

With some exceptional play from our biggest little man Isaiah, who’s showing marked improvement every time out by controlling the paint and grabbing every rebound that he sees. There was outstanding play from all who strapped them up with little Dee giving us our shining moment with his three point shot, the look of excitement and joy that was on his parent’s face was priceless!

What a thrill it is to watch our kids have special moments like that, isn’t that why we do what we do and make those sacrifices

Well our 8th grade boys did it again, you know CHAMPIONSHIP!

We played hard the entire weekend getting contributions from the entire team. It’s impossible to note everything that each young man did, but I’m going to share with you a little.

We were led by Lil’ Josh and Tyler H. who displayed hard nose defense every moment of every minute, which led into easy breakaway lay-ups for all.

When it was time to select MVP it was too close to call again. The winner this time was Tyler; it seems that he’s finally buying in to our philosophy.

As usual Big Josh did his thing by being sound patrolling the paint and just being affective inside, now what a surprise and lift we got from the Pizza Man Nate… I think his electrolytes where up because he was awesome the Championship Game, grabbing rebounds blocking shots, running the floor and scoring doing all of the things we’ve been waiting for.

I was most impressed with one of our players… I asked him when was he going to make a shot, all of you know that I like the players to play with a swagger and confidence, his answer was “my next one’s going in, don’t worry coach.” Now that’s what I’m looking for…you need to believe in yourself if you want others to believe in you and follow you, congratulations to you all.

Our HS Girls are making progress every time out, we got a late start but we’re definitely heading in the right direction.

There’s a bond that the girls are forming that is exciting to see, which tends to lead to trusting each other on the floor.

We see all of them trying things that they were not capable or comfortable doing just two weeks ago. Our defense looks better, which is keeping us in the game and giving us a chance to win.

We’re starting to play much faster which is a good thing, once we get accustomed to playing at this faster pace shots will start to fall again. Good weekend girls

The HS Boys are looking real good, we were extremely proud of the way they played the entire weekend you know our program prides itself on defense and playing hard.

Undersized the first game we battled to the end.

Without a true post the first game Emery and Darius matched up with their post players who were 6’3 and 6’4 respectfully…

Both showed they have the heart of a champion.

Big Mike played with the HS Guys because we were short handed and he represented himself well. All of the guys did everything that was asked of them, JB showed he could defend, Jack did an outstanding job of playing big and getting rebounds, Micah and Teren hit shots as usual.

Jason got his shot off with the big boys and held his own and Justin was right in the thick of things as well.

Getting all of these guys to buy in is coming slowly but it is coming. Elijah finally seemed to figure it out the last game showing flashes of the old lock down pressure defender.

Emery is displaying the leadership qualities that are needed for a young team, as well as showing the necessary desire and determination it takes to get to the rim almost at will. Once Micah decides he’s going to show that same will and defend like we know he can, well the sky is the limit for him as well as the team. We’re just waiting on him to make us better.   (click here for a recap of the tournament)
